I don't understand your angst towards players from other clubs. Bramble did well for us after being delisted. At least keep an open mind and judge players on what they can potentially bring us.

I 100% agree we tend to trade well for the role-player types. I've liked Bramble, Harmes, Baker. I also think our list management and drafting is excellent.

My beef is more watching talent we drafted and developed and rely on walk.

With what draft picks? We don't even have a first rounder.

Outside of Josh Dunkley which player has left and has made the club regret it?

I don't feel like Smith will be added to that list either.

Oh I just mean Dunkley and Smith. Not disagreeing with your post above, actually agree with everything you said & it's good context/reminder to stay level. Actually I'm pitching in on the resulting discussion between BaD and GVGjr here rather than building on my own post above.

But to answer your question, this latter comment is less about the club's regret, it's more about the fact we have to rely so heavily on the draft but have two high-profile players we drafted, and who play in positions of need, walk.

Thank heavens for Bont, and Libba, and that of our new crop, Darcy in particular has the family connection. And for Naughton's loyalty, and Marra's (so far, as frustrating a player as he can be). And Richards. And so on and so forth.

Yeah I agree it's an issue where drafted players are wanting to walk as they reach their prime. But we've also kept a good number. Dunkley is definitely the single regret here as I'm not too sure if the club is keen to see the back of Smith.

Fully agree. And I'm on record here as being blindly spiteful about Dunkley, under-playing the hole he left in our midfield, and death-riding his poor performances since 2021 in the vain hope he'd turn out to be less good for Brissie than he was for us.

Problem is, he was every bit as good as he seemed.

I was on record saying I didn't think we'd miss him that much but he's actually exactly what we've missed.

Brisbane was perfect for him. They had fast, skilful mids that compensated for his slowness and poor kicking. He can just plod along and do his defensive thing which by the way he is very good at. We helped them out WAY too much.

I was on record saying we'd miss him dearly. And our reliance on English is proving me right.

    Trade for a pick.

Do you want to blow away, say pick 15 on another player from another club. I would prefer that our first rounders should all be used for a draft pick - unless we were trading for an A grader - highly unlikely.

Of course we can try and trade in a player for needs, but I don't want to use good picks on getting them. It's a risk. Would we be better off with a young drafted players or a Poulter, Harmes, Baker? Yes sometimes it works out - Duryea, Bramble.

Cal Twomey said yesterday that SDK won't be going anywhere and wants to stay at Geelong. Not sure what's true but Twomey's mail generally seems pretty decent.
