If all that is correct then those initial figures are made public for all clubs to consider. I doubt Smith, his manager or the Geelong FC would want that known. That's the downside of going through the draft.

They are made known to clubs but not public if that makes sense.
IMO Cats will get him to go an inflated amount year one and a very inflated amount year two. Then when they drafted him, extend the contract. In a years time, renegotiate the second year to even out costs, defending it to the AFL that it could not forecast changes to TPP a year ahead. Of course the AFL will accept.

Send him to the draft. It will be funny. I promise I won’t be mad or bring it up later.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Hawks then pick him up

Re: Welcome to the Bulldogs: Bailey Smith
The Cats first rounder is going to blow out to pick 23 or thereabouts, nobody in their right mind thinks that is fair value for Bailey Smith.

The report is that the cats weren't going to entertain a trade for him. That's not necessarily SDK saying he doesn't want to leave, that's the Cats saying that they don't want to give up any of their toys.

if we are getting to that point, why not just negotiate a trade with hawthorn/whoever now? Why give ANYONE the leg up of Bailey Smith for free?
Also, can you IMAGINE their Hokball/Bazlenka content on social media. I just vomited thinking about it.

That's it.
Who cares what Baz wants. The deal is about Footscray Footy Club.
Baz has made it clear what he thinks of the place so let's cast the net.
