All of the clubs have blokes flying all over, watching games (or - in most cases, drinking coffee and idly chatting to one another). But ultimately they are paying them for a reason...let them loose to pick the right blokes.

I'm not trading pick 3 for pick 8 and Liam Baker. How does that move the needle in any way??? Not. Happening. Don't West Coast need as many GOOD players as they can get? If they wanted 'average' players, they could have traded away pick 1 last year and picked up 3 first rounders...but they didn't do that. Why in goodness name would they do this?
I'd be interested in seeing the median in addition to the average of those picks. Whip that up for me overnight if you can, please MJP.

Media is also missing the fact we're effectively replacing Smith with pick(s) - there's $$ saved.
Plus we still haven?t even spent the Hurley money!

Media is about content. Filling the void with advertising honey traps.

It really doesnt matter so much what they say, more that they say it.

I think it all died when Sheehan left. He was the last of the guys with some integrity.

Hutchy and his US methodologies have made it all pretty much unbearable.

Now that Saints not using 47 on Soldo as if yesterday, they?d be open to using that on Macrae. Dogs still want more, pick 27.

    Re: Bulldog ONLY Trade News

    Monday Summary

    Draft positioning
We are looking to move up the draft order offering a package of picks we have and future picks but in a strong draft it's unlikely

    Bailey Smith
Geelong aren't moving on their offer of pick 17.
It's reported that Connors Sports are confident that if he goes to the draft hen no club will take him before Geelong's pick.
Prediction: This one goes down to the wire but a sweetener will be added.

    Jack Macrae
Macrae nominates St Kilda as his preferred destination but they don't want to offer much from this year but are open with offering a future pick,
Prediction: Given the Saints have cooled on Ivan Soldo they will offer something for this year and we will accept it.

    Caleb Daniel
North have made an offer or two for Daniel and even putting forward a 4 year deal.
The reports indicate that we aren't keen on considering the offer unless Daniel requests it.
Prediction: This one doesn't get done unless Caleb requests the trade but with North also after Parker they might lose their currency

    Xavier O'Halloran
We are clearly interested and XOH would like to make the move but GWS have been resolute that they want to keep him.
Prediction: Perhaps if a deal gets made with Daniel we might be able to offer something for XOH that interests GWS but it's very unlikely

    Missed it by that much
We made pitches to the following players but they nominated other clubs
Tom Barrass - James Peatling - Dan Houston

    Stayed Loyal
Riley Garcia re-signed on a 3 year deal

    Whats left?
Everything depends on the Smith deal but we will look to package up some picks and move up the order.
There is still a fair bit to play out.

Any chance of a late surprise? A player maybe...?

Although with the insane saturation of media now it's hugely unlikely isn't it.

Sure it's always a chance but normally there would be some links. The Treloar deal was speculated on for a day or two prior.

Sam Edmund has being pushing for Smith to go to Geelong since mid last year. "He won't go anywhere else". Well I still wonder whether we have spoken to his manager about other possible clubs and whether there is a club out there that would love to have him? Sydney, GWS the big lights of Sydney would be great for his branding (as Azabob has mentioned many times). We could go straight to a club and ask if they would put a deal to Smith on the table?

Cornes is now promoting walk Smith to the draft as we are being unreasonable.

In the same breath is saying Smith is a proven finals player and Melbourne / Fremantle / Carlton should take him over an underage player with their first pick.
More of an In Bruges guy?

Classic Cornes playbook - have a bob each way so you can never be wrong

North offered 25 for CD and our 48 back to them.

    We said no.

Why are we pushing out a decent footballer who still has plenty to offer to us?

    Hope it all falls through.
