I can't see the saints giving up 27 for Jacko but Lyon is desperate for someone of Jacks experience.
From my perspective if i'm Sam Power, if I don't get the deal I want from the cats I walk away. They want to play that game then I'm content to get nothing & just hope Bailey & the cats get what they're owed & he ends up at tigerland.
Do we dare do a Veale deal again?

Saints pony up for Macrae and we send Smith to the draft for Lyon and the saints to pounce?

    Smith
    - Do we walk him to the draft?
    - Do we reluctantly accept pick 17?
    - Can we get pick 17 and a sweetener from Geelong?

    Macrae
    - Does the deal get done with the Saints?
    - Do we accept a future pick?
    - Do we fold firm for 27 or accept 47?

    Daniel
    - Does a trade get done?
    - Is it pick 25 or nothing?
    I think they all go.

We get 17 (plus maybe a future second for a future third)
47 for Macrae (maybe a swap to our benefit as well)
    25 for Daniel.

That's a nice haul of new talent coming in.

    Richmond likely to have 1, 6, 10, 14, (11 or) 18, 20 & 23 etc.

I wonder being that 14 might be 17 after bids. Whether our F1 for that pick might interest them? In so dropping out of the chase for GCS Pick 13 if it’s even back on.?.?.

Would be a nice pick for us. Ahead of Geelong too. If we got fair value for BS & CD, that’s 3 picks inside 25. Even only getting 47 for Jack with 48. That might purchase 29 or 32 in a points trade too. A handy draft hand and a pick ahead of Geelong just for good measure.

Saints 27 is off to Lions.

    They have now 32 & 45.

It’s Jack for 32 or bust now for me. Let Saints put their 45 & 47 together for an upgrade to around 30.

Our 35 & 48 might a points trade possibility for Lions now 27. Or Dons 28 or GCS 29.

    Say our hand: 17, 25, 27/28/29 & 32 (plus extra from Geelong) - F1 for a first this year?

Is Sam conjuring up a deal of some sorts?

    Peter Ryan The Age
Bailey Smith’s trade to Geelong has not shifted with the Cats having pick 17 on the table for the 23-year-old who is out of contract. The Bulldogs made it clear they wanted more for Smith on the opening day of the trade period.

However the two clubs have been talking so it’s not at a complete stalemate as the deadline draws nearer. It will be interesting whether the Dogs could formulate a plan to maximise what is currently on offer with Jack Macrae and Caleb Daniel also potentially on the move for picks or whether they will sit tight until the deadline is the only thing in sight.

That both clubs are still talking is a good sign. Unfortunately for the media class.

Maybe we try and get a pick in front of 17 from whatever we get from Caleb and Jack combined, so we can at least threaten to redraft Smith?

I would think that Geelong is only too willing to let us walk BS to the draft shows just how little they are prepared to consider the player himself. We, and Geelong, are well aware of his reported past mental issues, and they might still be prepared to put him into the draft, with no guaranteed outcome.

Should be a warning to Bailey about the value the club you are wanting to get too places on you. Tread warily youngster, beware of what you wish for. We made an offer in good faith; the choice has remains with you.

    Trade Radio:

"The Dogs still want O'Halloran. It's a three-year deal on the table. If GWS trade him, and it's still a big 'if', they'd prefer a pick in this year's draft. That's because they are keen on futures for James Peatling."

GWS are looking for future picks and they hold 15 and 16 this year

If the deal is awful, then I just think the waste of the pick would be justifiable as a write-off as a one-off cost of doing business.

I'm sick of getting reamed by hotshot players being wooed by big club pursuers looking to get A grade recruits for chips from perceived 'feeder clubs' like us.

Define waste. I think it would be really, really funny.
