Re: Hall of fame
I was reflecting as Macrae and Daniel move on - how many of the 2016 premiership team are HoF worthy on an individual basis? How much weight does the premiership carry?
Morris and Boyd are already in. Bont is a lock. Libba almost certain. Wood as skipper and 188 games very likely.
JJ will likely end up on similar games totals to Gilbee and Hargrave, but with a flag, norm and a losing GF. Does he get in ahead of them?
Where does Macrae rank? 249 games, 3x AA, best finals player 2021, b&f runner up X3 and third x2
Roughead 138 games with a flag, Eagleton 221 games with three losing prelims - are either of them getting inducted?
8/20 of the 1954 team are in the Hall of Fame.
Interested in other posters thoughts!

I can see all of Bont, Picken, Wood and Libba. Macrae I think ends up borderline, not sure - is he more deserving than Gia for example?

Re: Hall of fame
I don't see how you can keep a 249 game, premiership player, 3 x AA and multiple top three Sutton medalist (3 runners up and two thirds in the Bont era) out of the HOF. Jacko is a lock.
Completely devastated Jacko isn't playing with us anymore. While I always wanted him to kick a few more goals, outside of that he was the complete player for us. Tough, tackled, got shitloads of the footy, took the hit, used it well by hand and foot, and did it every week for pretty close to a decade.
Actually surprised people seem to be much more upset about Daniel's departure, and I love Caleb as well.
TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

I'm still processing Jacko and CD's departures.
Agree with all you said, and I'll add my two cents worth soon.

Now that I know you agree with me I'll probably skim over it.

Re: Hall of fame
Bont, Jacko and Libba are all locks, as the core of our greatest ever midfield.
Morris and Boyd already in.
Then I'd expect Wood, Picken and JJ to find their way in as great servants of the club who played crucial roles when it mattered most. Leaving us with 8 from the 16 flag to match the 8 from 54.
Gut feel is CD misses out now, finishing his career elsewhere.

Very similar to my thoughts. Roughead, Caleb, Hunter in that next rung who just miss out.

Re: Hall of fame
I know it doesn’t count towards hall of fame but the honourable way Caleb left makes him a legend in my eyes. Big heart, RWB all the way. We put trust in his skills and were not fooled that his lack of height would stop him being an A grader (until the complexion of the game changed a few years ago towards speed). I think he paid us back in spades. From the first pre-season game I saw him play in Ballarat I knew we had a special player. In his prime I think he had the cleverest disposal over short distances in my time watching football, albeit I don’t watch all other non doggies matches.
