Re: Player Contract Status
I'm okay with the extensions but could we have held back for 6 months with Bramble?
He exceeded most of our expectations during the season and provided a lot of run and carry from the back line but he was already signed until the end of 25.
I guess it is only a 1 year extension and should keep everyone motivated.

Agree we should have waited on Bramble.
I wonder if he offers some tangible off field that we do not see?

I can't get over how well he slotted in particularly over the 2nd half of the season.
A very shaky start but once he found his rhythm he provided a lot for us.
It's probably not a bad contract extension at all.

I think it's just reward. You need to provide carrots.

I don’t understand the reasoning to wait. He exceeded expectations and has performed well. Reward him for effort and provide him with a level of security. It is also means we don’t need the distraction leading into and during the season. We have some key players off contract. That is where our focus should be plus looking at acquiring talented players from other teams.

Re: Player Contract Status
When was the last time a player signed two contracts in one year?
Bramble singed in June and again in November.
Must be something to do with a contract insensitive when he first came across?

I think Naughton did it early on. Twice within 12 months, but don’t think it was the same calendar year.

Apparently we are looking at extending Liam Jones contact

Re: Player Contract Status
Why? He slowed down massively at the end of last year, was horrible in the final, will be 34 at the end of the year and his comeback was defying logic as it was anyway.
Do we really think we’re at any risk of losing him if we wait? Does it even matter that much if we do?

Crazy if true.

Re: Player Contract Status
Re Jones I'd prefer we wait to see how this season goes. However, we tend to look after players these days so it's not super surprising.

It does seem premature. It will interesting to know why we don't hold back until mid season

Re: Player Contract Status
I'd personally wait and see how he's going midseason. His last couple of games this year were pretty poor although hopefully that was just wear and tear.

Even midseason is too soon for me. The guy is 34. Let's get him to the end of the year and see how he's going.

Agreed. Like Duryea is a year to year proposition now. I can't see what is to be gained by re-signing him before the end of next season.
