You always hope for a slider or a higher profile name but a few of the more fancied players got gobbled up with the 3 or 4 picks prior.
Hynes will be okay

Forget your Instagram Mullet washboard abs bullshit. That’s a footballers haircut. Let’s go Cooper. Give him a Mitch Hahn’s #8 and let him roll.

Re: WOOF welcomes Cooper Hynes to the Whitten Oval
Biography
Medium midfielder/forward who is a powerful contested ball winner around stoppages and dangerous when he goes forward with his innate goal sense and strong overhead mark. He had an exceptional year with the Dandenong Stingrays in the Coates Talent League, averaging 24 disposals (11 contested), 4.7 clearances and kicking 23 goals in 15 matches. Finished runner-up in the Morrish Medal and also for the Stingrays’ best and fairest award, as well as being selected in the Coates Talent League Team of the Year. Carried that form into the National Championships for Victoria Country, averaging 17 disposals at 79 per cent efficiency and averaging a goal a game against the best young players nationally. Did not test at the Draft Combine due to mid foot sprain.

Re: WOOF welcomes Cooper Hynes to the Whitten Oval
SNAPSHOT: “A powerful midfielder-forward capable of posting dominant statlines, racking up possessions and both scoring and assisting goals in bulk.” – Michael Alvaro
Cooper Hynes has been turning in imperious performances at Coates Talent League level for two seasons now. After debuting with five touches as a 16-year-old in 2022, the 190cm midfielder-forward quickly stamped himself on the competition with his 2023 campaign. A bottom-ager at the time, he averaged 17.4 disposals and booted 18 goals in 13 appearances to break through and make Vic Country’s Under 17 and 18 sides.
Fast-forward to 2024, and Hynes continued to go from strength to strength. He was named co-captain of the Dandenong Stingrays alongside good mate Harvey Langford, this time kicking 23 goals in 15 games from an average 23.7 disposals. His exploits culminated in a preliminary final berth, Team of the Year honours, and second place in the Morrish Medal. What’s more, he ran out a full National Championship campaign.
The Bonbeach junior is the son of four-game former Carlton player, John Hynes, who went on to carve out a VFL career with Frankston. Hynes junior is a Richmond supporter who idolises Dustin Martin and produced some big game exploits of his own this year, including a wonderful second half performance to help Vic Country defeat Western Australia, notching 20 disposals, eight marks and two goals.

Re: WOOF welcomes Cooper Hynes to the Whitten Oval
Looks strong in the contest. Like him more as a big mid than an awkward size forward and his highlights there look better

Re: WOOF welcomes Cooper Hynes to the Whitten Oval
Natural midfielder and natural forward combined. Maybe just maybe someone who won't crack the shits if asked to play outside the square.
Exactly the type of player I wanted if we couldn't land a genuine rolled gold inside/outside midfielder.
Welcome to the club lad.
TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Re: WOOF welcomes Cooper Hynes to the Whitten Oval
He?s the bull midfielder that we needed to add. Don?t mind that selection in this draft range. We aren?t getting a top 10 AFL talent here and this looks like a player who can play 150 games of AFL football and do it ok. While he doesn?t have wheels, he?s different to Sanders with his size.
Let?s see.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

So was The Apprentice and I don’t see people electing that guy to anything, let alone the nickname of a new recruit.
