That's so poor from Lyon. He's been trusted to come on when the ball's doing a bit and he bowls short and leg-side pump. 13 from an over could be game-changing today.

      See you later Joey Boy!

      BAZZZZZZBAAAAAAALLLLLL!

Good and entertaining innings from Root, in honesty. However, I reckon they're massively exposed if they lose a couple cheaply now.
      TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Agree with that. Really intrigued to see how Stokes plays. Think he'll drop anchor until lunch.

The two reviews won by England which gave them a little breathing space.

I think we are now in the box seat.

Not with Stokes and Bairstow batting.

They can take it beyond us pretty quickly.

It's primed for a good finish, I reckon Warner would be shitting himself right now but at least there's a full session to bat in good conditions. He just needs to keep his cool.

I'd love us to win this test about as much as I've wanted to see us win any test in history. Wipe the smiles off the smarmy faces in the dressing room who get their jollies from a four being hit......and give the commentary (including the sycophantic Australian ex-players) something to actually talk about.

Disappointing to lose Smith and Marnus again in the second innings for little on a docile pitch. Will be a great effort to win with our 2 best batsmen contributing virtually nothing. Much falls to Ussie and Head to get us closer as I wouldn't want to see Green and Carey needing to get us +100.

Kumar Sangakkara was horrible to listen to last night - basically Cummins is a moron and Stokes a genius. Kept going on about it, give me a break.

What a huge first hour of play this is set up for. If Uzzie is still there we'll be a huge chance. If both Uzzie and Boland (somehow?) are there, then look out! That said, we probably will need Head to come in sooner rather than later to get the runs as I'm sure Birmingham will turn on the sprinklers at some point.

England made 30 runs too many and our inability to get through their tail enders was costly and as Axe mentioned it was so disappointing to lose Labuschagne and Smith as we needed at least one of them to make a 50.

It looks like it's up to Khawaja to build amother big innings and steer the ship for us and that won't be easy.

Obvious to say but Uzzie is key. If he gets out early I fear we will drop our heads. But if he can anchor the innings for a fair while longer, Head, Green and Carey will gain more confidence in the chase. A destructive 50 from Head would be very handy to break the back of the chase.

Wait...that's like saying the sky is grey.

I don't care much for the Australian team so hopefully it's an entertaining game.

I always find patriotism interesting. People in Aus hate each other in traffic, at work, etc etc...

I like the Poms. I hate Steve Smith, Warner...actually most of that horrid NSW side.

The super sopper has been working overtime this morning.

The forecast has an 84 percent chance of rain at 11am, dropping to 54 percent at midday then 40 percent the following hour.

The Met Office thunderstorm warning ends at 10.30am local time, leading to the optimistic prospect of play later in the day.

It is currently likely that the first session will be written off, with play to resume in the early afternoon (late evening AEST).

12:30 - covers coming off. May lose only the morning session.

This has been a cracking test match and no matter the result it has set the tone for the series. Lets be honest, the Aussie bowlers have not coped with the aggressive batting.

EDIT: - 2:15 local time to start
