Puts Spain in a tough situation having to beat Chile & Honduras to progress. A win against Honduras should be all-but guaranteed, but Chile looked pretty good last night and it shapes as a real test.... What price Spain to get knocked in the group stage pre-tournament?
Personally thought Spain looked great but lacked a killer blow. They were very unlucky to not score at least 1 goal.

Villa missed an open goal, Xavi hit the bar, Torres missed a sitter, Pique hit it straight at the keeper and they had one or 2 other opportunities.

Chile looked great in their game.

From what I saw Spain reminded me of Arsenal, lots of possession whilst trying to walk the ball into the back of the net.

They seem to run with the attack is the best form of defence philosophy which is kind of refreshing.

            Tim Cahill cops one-match ban

SOCCEROO star Tim Cahill's World Cup has been saved after he was given a one-match ban rather than two for his red-card against Germany.

Cahill will now be free to take part in Australia's final Group D match against Serbia on June 23 after FIFA's disciplinary committee decided on Thursday not to increase his automatic one-match ban.

But the Everton midfielder will miss the Socceroos' must-win clash with Ghana in Rustenburg on Saturday.

Monumental stuff up by the Argentinian defender right on half time. Hopefully it won't come back to bite them.

                      Re: FIFA World Cup 2010

                      After 2 games in groups A & B, here's how things stand.

                      GROUP A

                      URU - 4pt - +3
                      MEX - 4pt - +2
                      FRA - 1pt - -2
                      SAF - 1pt - -3

Uruguay & Mexico can afford to draw when they play each other enabling them do both advance.

France play South Africa & one of these would need to win & hope Uruguay & Mexico don't draw. That way they would be on 4 points too, so it would come down to goal difference.

                      CROUP B

                      ARG - 6pt - +4
                      SKO - 3pt - -1
                      GRE - 3pt - -1
                      NIG - 0pt - -2

Argentina have qualified for the group stages.

Greece have the harder job as they play Argentina whereas South Korea play Nigeria.

Nigeria can still make it if they win & Greece lose. If that happened Nigeria, Greece & South Korea would all have 3 points, so it would come down to goal difference.

Go the Greeks, you bloody beauty!!!!!!!!!
Now for the Aussies to get over Ghana and the Doggies to beat WCE, it would be a triple treat.

Argentina have not officially qualified. If they lose to Greece and South Korea beat Nigeria, there will be 3 teams on 6 points, so it would come down to goal difference. With Argentina's current goal difference of +4 it's hard to see them not qualifying, but it's not guaranteed.

They were playing Switzerland who are hardly a super-power so one would expect the pre-tournament favourite and a side that had been unbeaten in 12 games to look 'great'. I thought they looked like the weight of the world was on their shoulders and played without the dare they have shown over the past 2 or 3 years.

Xabi Alonso hit the crossbar with a powerful drive as well.
