Re: FIFA World Cup 2010
A strong performance by the Socceroos (especially in the 20min after 1/2 time)
On today's game:
- Holman – Didn’t know he had that in him... Cracking goal.
- Lucky early, some good saves by Schwarzer.
- Beauchamp was good.
- Looked much better with Kennedy up front with Cahill playing off him.
- For his size Cahill has the best head in world football, to out-jump Vidic (who is a gun) and rifle it into the corner is world class.
Overall:
- The red card to Cahill & Wilkshire’s miss killed us. If Cahill plays against Ghana we win – simple. Having Kewell & Cahill in the same team at some stage would have been handy too.
- Our tactics against Germany were simply horrible, as soon as we played with some sort of formation we looked very competitive.
- We really should have qualified for the next stage, but them's the breaks.
The qualifying stage will soon start all over again and it will be tough with the retirement of many of this squad to get back to this spot.Comment

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010
I dont know that I rate goals from outside the box as highly as I used to. The jabulani ball today is like when I used to play soccer with a $2.00 ball that I bought from a service station in the 1980's, its so unreliable.Comment

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010
Holman's goal as well as the strike from Mesut Ozil in Germany's game against Ghana were both world class strikes, the ball or type there of made no difference with these 'stunners'.Comment

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010
Normally would agree, but I just don't think Ghana deserved to make it through to the round of 16. They played the least attractive football of all of the Group D, scored the least number of goals and played the longest time against 10 men opponents....oh and only scored because of 2 penalties resulting from Red Cards both for handball.......sorry if this is the best performed African team then they have serious problems!Comment

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010
Wow, haven't Italy been embarassing this world cup going from champions to bottom of their group. New Zealand did well to remain undefeated, but must be bitterly dissapointed to not get through.I should leave it alone but you're not rightComment

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010
My, oh, my.
I am currently in Northern Italy and the mood here is somewhat dejected to say the least. The Italian manager (Lippi?) has just made a public apology and accepted full responsibility. I'm sure he will join the dole queue tomorrow.Comment
