Horse Racing - Spring Carnival 2011

Black Caviar has just notched up its 14 straight win to equal Phar Laps feat. This mare has talent to burn but unfortunately the big money in sprinting is overseas.

Its shaping up to be a big Spring carnival so put in your thoughts, tips and enjoy.

BC is a marvel. I can't remember a horse winning G1/2 races so consistently with the ease that she can. The big sprint money is overseas but it'll be nice to bring a little back.

After dropping out of what turned out to be a terrible Quaddie, I Backed the Caufield winner yesterday with a Freebet online.

Then backed a $50 shot at Randwick..

Not a bad start to spring carnival

My dads been following Southern Speed for a while now a picked up $400 yesterday as well as the quaddie.
I thought i'd share an amusing story i heard yesterday. I guy told me that a friend of his went to the Cox Plate about 5 or so years ago and carrys a bit of money to punt with. He has put a trifecta on for 100x and picked up the trifecta. The tri paid $320 so he won $320,000. He was on cloud 9 so went to the bar and said drinks are on me. About 5 minutes later the siren goes off. Fourth place getter was protesting against 3rd and the decision was upheld. He slumped to the floor and could not move. He told his mate to go to the bar and get his credit card but it already had $5000 clocked up on it. After that he said he will never have another bet and true to his word has never had another punt.

Anyone got any tips or horses runs they have liked that could be a goer later on in the carnival?

Some great horses out there this Spring:

          Watch out for:

          Helmet
          Sepoy
          Black caviar of Course
          Descarado
          More Joyous

I reckon she is just about cooked.. Had to battle really hard on Saturday in a race she would have won comfortably 12 months ago.

Sepoy is probably 12 months off too...... Ran a nice race on Saturday, but will get brained if it faces BC anytime soon, but that's no different to the rest of them.

Could have been worse, he could have drafted Matthew Bate.

Sepoy won't be racing against BC, maybe in the Autumn.

With the exception of maybe Descarado there isn't much value in the rest of them. I still like Lion Tamer and you can get some handy odds.

Great time to go for trifecta's, they pay good money this time of year.

Not if the horses you have selected keep winning.

                      Sepoy's tri paid $14... whoopdy-do.

Who said I was selecting those horses???

Well instead of negative posts, how about some tips from you for value bets?

Efficient makes the cut for the Cox Plate. Not a great line up for the race so the grey might be worth a punt.
I have a tip. Don't listen to Jason Richardson on SEN. He cost me the straight 6 on Saturday by saying Love conquers all won't win. I would of taken it one out but because of what he said i left it out.

                            I backed LCA

My mate always gives me hot tips, and says he's not going past Jimmy Choux this weekend, so I've backed Jimmy into a couple cup winners at $4.40.

Effecient $20 odd, Lion Tamer $15 or there abouts, will back them back aswell I think.

                              Lion Tamer is my outsider.
