    Mickey Arthurs appointment

I think it was a good one. Does anyone doubt it was a good appointment?

I do a bit as SA always seemed a bit mentally weak and never achieved much under him.

Dont agree, he got South Africa to the top of the world rankings in all three forms of the game (came from 5th in test cricket) while managing the retirements of guys like Pollock, Ntini and Gibbs and fostering the talents of Steyn, Morkel, Amla and De villiers. Extremely happy with the appointment, its nice to see someone from outside the Australian system who is a proven international coach.

Not much of a different approach than getting a AFL coach from another club.
Will hopefully have fresher and newer ideas.
South African are known for their abrupt approach and this may be just what is needed.

To me this doesn't really matter unless you win the important tournaments.

How long did they hold onto the number 1 ranking in cricket for? not being a smart arse, I'm just not sure and didn't think it was long.

And on top of that he did not have a straight forward selection process and that was forced upon all SA sporting sides.
Time will tell if he can make a difference but like you, I see his appointment as a positive.

Great appointment, very happy. I think Australia are the last 'major' nation to appoint a non-national as Coach.

He's probably the right choice, it's interesting though that for the first time Australia can't provide the best option. Times really have changed.

Great to get someone that is from the outside and may think differently than the current culture in Australian Cricket.

Why does Clarke have to come and publicly back Punter? These selection questions should be asked behind closed doors!!Time the tail stopped wagging the Dog in Australian cricket!!
