    Australia vs England (Womens) series

How impressive is Ellyse Perry? Bowled brilliantly in the first innings on day one and then had to save Australia with the bat on the 2nd day before then chiming in with a wicket late in the day.

It's currently a close match with England adding some stability this morning (Perth time) after being 3 for not many last night.

This series is based on a test match, a few one dayers and a few T20 games with different points being allocated for each win (Tests worth more than one dayers etc)

I'll keep my on eye on how this series progresses.

5 for 57, need another 128 runs to win.

Perry has had a fantastic game so far, hopefully she can lead the team to victory:

            3/41 (22) & 5/38 (20)
            71 & 1*

Surely has to be one our greatest female athletes at the moment, playing top level in two sports, both at an excellent level?

The first Aussie athlete to play cricket and (a type of) footy at top level since Simon O"Donnell?

Unfortunately she is a star at two sports without a great National profile. In a lot of sports she could attract some major sponsors.

Perry does it again and got Australia home with just 3 balls to spare

A solid win by the Australians today with 9 balls to spare. Low scoring game and we need 102 for the win.

I well recall the three worst days of my life - umpiring a women's Australia v New Zealand Test match.

On the last day the Australians declared leaving NZ a good run chase. In the first over my mate fired the NZ captain out leg before. She immediately packed the shits and demanded her team not go for the runs.

Late in the game, standing at square leg I remember saying to a fielder alongside me, "Now there's an amazing thing" to which she replied, "What's that?"

"For the first time today runs scored exceed overs bowled - 89 v 88"

As Richie would say, "Marvellous, simply marvellous."
