I just hate seeing this on a footy field. I hope he is OK. Game was stopped for eight minutes.

GWS: Sam is conscious after being taken from the field. He’ll be assessed in the rooms before being taken to hospital for further monitoring.

Woah...we all just know this is still just brewing... right..... The single biggest issue confronting all contact sports going forward.
At what point will the industry defense be 'hey we accept kids born prior to say 2024 would be covered by any potential class action or forward planning special retirement fund for players.. However at some point anyone continuing to choose a contact sport does so manifestly aware of the inherent risks...
Surely that is going to be at least part of the seismic changes that eventually will smash into the game...in the not too distant future.

Am I being way to melodramatic and 'catasrophising'?.. I vacillate on this issue all the time.

Nope-I think you?re right. Rule changes will make game nothing like it is now.

                    Re: The League Injuries Thread

It’s a two or three-week hamstring injury for Richmond midfielder Jacob Hopper, the Tigers believe.

Hopper was playing his first game since Round 2 on Anzac Day eve after an injury layoff due to a knee arthroscope but was substituted out of the clash against Melbourne in the third quarter.

In strange scenes, the 27-year-old grabbed at his hamstring but remained on the ground before coming from the field in the following minutes, kicking a drink bottle in frustration and heading down the rooms.

Richmond has now confirmed a “mild hamstring strain” for Hopper.

Chris Fagan says both Gardiner and McCarthy are "more than likely" ACLs. "The doctors pretty much think that'll be the case". Both men will be scanned on Tuesday.

With Coleman & Doedee. That four down with ACLs in under two months. That’s brutal.

I think you can put a line through the lions. Especially with the start of the season they have had, going to be tough for them to get home finals.

Is five ACLs in the last year just bad luck or is there something else going on? I believe the average is like one per club per season. So to have five times the normal rate is an outlier.

The Brisbane Lions are due to hold talks with Gabba chiefs on the spate of serious knee injuries its players have suffered at the venue. Six players have gone down with ruptured ACL’s at the Gabba since last July. No blame from club to ground, just due diligence.
