    Easter Marquee Dogs Match

I’m sure most Dogs fans share my disappointment with losing the Good Friday marquee game as we don’t have any others. However it seems the Dogs are now pushing to maintain the Easter Sunday night slot which is a new slow and could become a marquee fixture. Interestingly the 35K crowd drawn between the Dogs and Saints was bigger than most, if not all of our Good Friday clashes. I really hope the Dogs and Saints can make this marquee match a big deal going forward, Sunday night football works great in the NFL and with it being a long weekend, these two clubs should really try and build it up as a big fixture game

Is it really a prime time slot but it might be something the club can build on. 35K was a pretty decent turn out.

I could be wrong but I believe it’s the first time or if not one of very few games played on a Sunday night slot. 35K a pretty good turnout especially between these two sides, if it was also a TV success I hope both clubs really push the AFL to give them the annual slot and a chance to really build it into a big marquee fixture

The energy at the ground was fantastic on Sunday night. I reckon the club can really build on this.

Perhaps the start time should be slightly later (7.40pm perhaps) to make sure everyone can get to the game after concluding all their Easter Sunday festivities? I was rushing to get there on time and it looked like others might have been as well - crowd really swelled late.

We kicked the other team’s arse too badly so as I understand it they need to give it to Essendon or something now.

I think it's as good a timeslot as we are going to be offered, so 100% should be trying to make it a thing.

Imo it's better than Good Friday, although North being woeful in that timeslot always hasn't helped make it feel like it's bigger than a crappy Sunday early game.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

Easter weekend crowds are always likely to be a little bit lower as people go away for the long weekend, but I think it will be a really popular tv slot and if we can maintain crowds around 35-40k that will be an amazing result.

I like that it's against the Saints, rather than getting a 'big' club in to swell the numbers.

Agree with this and I think the timeslot is fine - it is already hard for families with kids being a night match. Talking to a woofer, the timing is also hard for country members, so an earlier start is better.

I don't agree with making it any later. It's already late for a Sunday (yeah I know it's a public holiday the next day). It's pretty late for kids by the time you get home if you don't live nearby and it is rightfully presented as a family friendly match.

Also being a Sunday the late country train services are non-existent. I had to drive or leave at 3 quarter time to catch the last train! I drove.

Good Friday during the afternoon at Marvel under the roof doesn't have the atmosphere of a marquee timeslot. It just doesn't have the right energy IMO - evenings work much better at Marvel.

At least the Saints more often than not should make the games more interesting than not most years so we then shouldn’t be punished for showing up unlike the Kangaroos

You know what, F the Kangaroos. We were promised by previous management at the AFL the Good Friday games with North, but they sooked to the AFL and Carlton stepped in and even Saints had a stint a few years ago. Their average attendance in the past 4 to 5 years has been 24,000.

They are a nothing club and should have accepted a relocation to Tassie. (yes I don't like them)

I think we should be lobbying the afl for Labour Day Game in opening round. Open the season in VIC.

Isn't the whole point of opening round that the AFL only want the games in NSW and Queensland? I would be staggered if they agreed to this.

I’m a bit unclear on your position on north Melbourne?
