Squiggle likes us again this year.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

You can look at it anyway you like. Combined they were on the field for 10 quarters. Thats an average of

        1.9 possessions per qtr
        1.1 tackles per qtr
        0.3 goals per qtr

Those outputs mean they are being carried by the rest. If i am coaching against dogs, I would lock down on naughton, harmes and possibly West. Knowing that Buku Odonnell vdm mcniel dolan hynes cannot kick a winning score, I would then keep an eye on midfield goals and ensure my opposition forward line beats the midfield goals from the dogs. We need Treloar back in side to possibly play Kennedy and Bont as forwards. Bonts kicking for goal can be wayward but at least he getting shots at the big sticks

West was terrific and it wasn't just the goals and tackles. He also put the body in to disrupt the opposition and allowed others to get possession. Jeff White's analysis highlighted such an instance.

They are contributing to the team. We locked them down in their D50 because of the efforts of those low possession players. GWS were repeat switching and racking up meaningless possession as we closed their exits.

I was impressed by West’s ability to hit the scoreboard and showed real smarts and forward craft.

I was really disappointed with his sloppy tackling efforts to give away a couple of free kicks. He needs to learn when to approach the contest full bore, but equally when to show caution as to not infringe on opponents in vulnerable positions.

Giving away frees is certainly not preferred but it is far better than allowing an easy take away.
It at least stops play and helps our defensive positioning.

It's very common for him to have a trailing arm which catches an opponent high. He gave away two of them on the weekend, and there would be plenty across his career. From memory he got suspended for something similarly clumsy, although that might have been a bump...

Love the attack on the ball but agree he needs to refine his technique.
