I predicted that this was going to happen last year in July after attending the public information session at the North Ballarat Sports Club. It isn't as modest an upgrade as you think. It's an $80 million rebuild of half the stadium plus the athletic centre. The work is being performed by mostly local construction companies and businesses, and much of the main construction components are being fabricated in Ballarat. The tradies required to complete the project are also engaged with building the massive new Ballarat Base Hospital upgrade and other commercial construction projects in and around Ballarat. Compounded to this is the State Governments "Big Build" projects in Melbourne that are sucking the oxygen away from construction across Victoria. Have you wondered why it takes over 12 months to build a new house, or 6 months to get a bathroom reno done? There are a lot of dynamics at play with construction in Victoria. I think that the construction element was the real reason why the Commonwealth Games got cancelled. The construction timeline was so tight and the CFMEU understood this and knew that they could name their very inflated prices to the government to ensure that the required Labor was prioritised to the Games projects in order to get the venues and villages built in time. The Games were not unachievable, but the costs involved with shifting workers away from other major projects would have caused blow outs and delays to many other projects around the State.
Every time people get seduced by the millions these works costs. We never hear about the conditions that come with it.
Sure the development might be a big project but for what us Doggies supporters receive is one to two years of inconvenience and a modest upgrade from our perspective.

Pretty sure the club is trying to make sure all those who said they will be there, will be there. I can't see the issue, didn't cost extra

Good one you for being so positive on everything the club implements.
What happens now if you change your mind due to the weather because from memory you have decided to do so before and not go?
I don't see why if people paid their $70 for a seat at Mars a couple of months back they still also need to redeem the seat from ticketmaster a few weeks beforehand.
It's an extra step that isn't required and in this instance members have to communicate because the club failed to let members know earlier enough of the change.
Every few months my wife and I enjoy a movie premier in Gold Class seating and we book it a month or more beforehand. We plan our date nights in advance.
I don't need to confirm or redeem those seat from the cinema again.

            That's ridiculous.

I've redeemed my ticket, but yeah something does feel a bit off here - the section my reserved seat is in didn't look to be affected by the redevelopment (bay 20), so I'm not sure why I had to redeem just to get shuffled a couple bays over. Surely the people whose spots aren't affected should just keep their spots, and those whose spots are affected can get offered a replacement spot (or even an offer to either redeem a new spot for free or get a refund) in one of the areas that would have been sold to the public otherwise. If there's more Ballarat members than there are available seats at the ground, that's something that should have been addressed months ago - I remember reading about the redevelopment last year.

Good on Ballarat for getting the ground upgraded, no complaints there. The club on the other hand... could have handled this a lot better.

The club's annual report noted that the 3350 postcode had the third highest membership figures (I am assuming after Footscray and Sunshine). Of note, the report didn't include 3355 (Wendouree) or 3352 (Sebastopol and the outer Western perimeter of Ballarat) in the Greater Ballarat area's statistics.

Ballarat move has been a great success

Tickets for our 2025 AFL Rd 8 game against Port Adelaide at Mars Stadium are now exhausted. This is a fully ticketed event. The Club will advise should further tickets become available.
Ballarat Reserved Seat Members can still use their season barcode to redeem a ticket.
I wonder what the capacity will be

5024 is the number of seats with zero standing areas.

I can't see that in the report. What page is it on?

The Herald Sun reported in November last year that our top 5 suburbs were:

                        1. Werribee
                        2. Williamstown
                        3. Yarraville
                        4. Point Cook
                        5. Hoppers Crossing

Given that massive lawsuit, the financial gains can't be dismissed.
