    Re: Injury List 2024

It's obviously not ideal, but we are going to live or die in 2024 depending on our midfield. We smashed Freo off the park with Buku down back, and we did it with fearsome intent at stoppage and clearance against (by far) the best clearance team in the competition in 2024.

    No excuses.

We did, but Freo barely showed up that game. Can we replicate that intensity against classy teams when they are really on?

Freo are pretenders, just like us. Their wins are North and Richmond away and an aberration against Melbourne in Alice Springs. Who else have we beaten in the top 8? GWS at 8? So the answer is no.

We're a 50/50 against the teams around us e.g. Hawthorn and Melbourne. Lucky we got the Pies at Marvel with a heap of them out.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

They beat the Swans in Sydney.

    They go OK.

Don't think they are as good as Blues and Swans but maybe the best of the rest.

From this point forward can we introduce a new WOOF rule that no one can ever say again, "the injury list is looking small" or "we look really healthy". Thank you.

I thought we played better with a few players out. So maybe this is a blessing in disguise?

St Kilda just beat Sydney and Freo only stayed with them. Logan McDonald should have won that.

    Medical Room | Round 19

Aaron Naughton and Adam Treloar will train this week ahead of a possible return against Geelong on Saturday night at GMHBA Stadium.

Treloar suffered calf tightness during the warm-up against the Blues and will be assessed after Thursday?s main session.

?In the warmup of the AFL game, Adam Treloar had some persistent generalised calf tightness,? Head of Sports Medicine, Chris Bell said.

Thanks to Deep Heat, Chris Bell gives an injury update on Treloar, Naughton and O'Donnell
?He felt that his top-end athletic performance was impacted and he didn?t want to compromise the team.

?We didn?t want to take any risk with Adam, so we made a late change.

?Adam?s calf tightness symptoms are improving and we will work through a process with him this week to determine his availability.?

Both Naughton and James O?Donnell have progressed through the concussion protocols after suffering knocks last weekend.

?Both Aaron Naughton and James O?Donnell have been progressing in line with our post-concussion management framework,? Bell said.

?Aaron completed a game-like session without contact on Saturday and is in line to tick our final boxes to be available for this weekend?s game.

?James had some hamstring tightness during last week, so we modified his Saturday session.

?With some interruptions to his training and playing over the last few weeks, we want to make sure that we regain some continuity.

?We will progress his training over the next two weeks to make sure that he is fit and firing and is back to his best.?

    PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
    Jordan Croft Thigh 4-8 weeks
    Ryan Gardner Wrist 4-6 weeks
    James Harmes Hamstring 2-3 weeks
    Jason Johannisen Calf 4-6 weeks

    Aaron Naughton Concussion Test
    James O'Donnell Hamstring 2-3 weeks
    Kelsey Rypstra Hamstring 2-3 weeks
    Bailey Smith Knee Season
    Adam Treloar Calf Test

At that stage the players were having a drinks break and jeered him on when he ran past with a very loud "Harmsey"

    Medical Room | Round 20

Liam Jones remains a chance to return for this weekend?s clash against Sydney at the SCG on Sunday afternoon.
The defender suffered a moderate-grade medial ligament injury a fortnight ago and will need to prove his fitness to face the Swans.

?Liam Jones has been progressing well following his medial ligament knee injury,? Head of Sports Medicine, Chris Bell said.

?He has pulled up well after completing a match parameters training session on Saturday.
?He still needs to tick some boxes for us during our main training session on Friday before we can confirm his availability for this weekend.?

James O?Donnell is at least another week away with a hamstring issue.

JJ and Gardiner might have played their last game with us .
Can’t see Gardiner getting back in looking at how our backs are going and with Busslinger, Croft and maybe Barass coming along . Khamis , Lobb , O’Donnell , Coffield would certainly get in before him if we are moving forward,
JJ is just so injury prone now and aging where it will only get worse.

Gardner is contracted for the next 2 years, he will likely get a chance at some stage if he can get a better run with injury. He's a handy depth KPD.
