Clarke's inability to make an impact has really hurt us.
I don't see XOH as a replacement for McNeill or VDM. We need more of these types in the team, not less. Have a look at the likes of GWS, Hawthorn, Geelong and Brisbane to see where the modern game is going - Sydney is the outlier only because they have 3 of the most destructive mids in the competition.

Come home lad.

Everyone is talking about it. Huge.
Get him in this year with a trade. Don't wait for a free agency bidding war that we know Geelong will mysteriously win despite having nothing in their salary cap.
Edit: wait I just watched it. Which one of us sent that text in???

Exactly. If Butters has signalled his intent then surely we could prise him out of Port this year. Sure he has a close relationship with Ken but given perceived uncertainty about Ken?s future (beyond next year) we should throw everything we can at Butters.

They’d ask for Marra.

Where does he play though?
If we can't find a spot for Garcia as a mid who can pinch hit as a HFF, I don't see how we can fit XOH on a regular basis.
I don't mind XOH and some of these 'types' but I feel we are collecting too many.
We need to keep finding players who bring a POD. This can be in different ways (I wouldn't mind a few more combative types - XOH does have a bit of this to be fair).

Yep good point- Unless we can wrangle at least a couple of first round picks (current or future) and off load them to Port.

But in the meantime we can always dream. Otherwise what else is there to look forward to during trade periods.

All you are doing is setting yourself up to be disappointed.

Re: Trade Rumours 2024
Anyway XOH sounds like a decent get for us, we've probably sold the inside mid spot to him with Macrae, Smith and Garcia leaving and Libba on his last legs. Hopefully he turns out alright.

A real backwards move and is so uninspiring. The claims that we're active in the off-season......again and this is probably the only player who we'll get while letting Smith walk out the door for peanuts. He might do OK with a bigger role but he'll hardly push us to the next level. It's so demoralizing.
