If Geelong’s final offer was to add a F2 maybe add an F2 in. But say it was:
If we are only using four picks that would give us 9, 17, 25 & 27 (if we stump up cash). So 38 & 47 aren’t needed.
Also depends it they are looking to move up and get ahead of the bid like we did with Croft, or just move back and increase their points.

Re: Trade Rumours 2024
KEY MEETINGS PAVE WAY FOR HOUSTON PIES MOVE
Collingwood is still the resounding favourite to secure Dan Houston as it is urged to hand over pick 23 as well as No.13 to secure the dual All Australian Port Adelaide defender.
Carlton has now all but been ruled out of the race for Houston given its determination to return to the draft, with extensive meetings on Wednesday between Houston’s management, Port Adelaide and Collingwood.
North Melbourne is still in a distant second place but not officially out of the race given it is prepared to hand over a future first-rounder for Houston.
The 27-year-old is keen to play for Collingwood and if the Pies relent on some of their trade demands they will get that deal done by the end of the trade period.
He has not officially declared he wants to play for the Pies given he needs to keep his options open but Collingwood is confident he is their preferred destination.
Collingwood would like to hand over John Noble and the Pies future first-rounder for Gold Coast’s picks 13 and 23, but the Suns are not happy with that deal.
In the end the Pies might have to hand over another later selection to get that deal done.
But if the Pies secured this year’s 13 and 23 they could hand them to the Power for Houston, who would accept that deal along with Collingwood’s Joe Richards.
So while the Pies might feel they are handing over too much for Houston, the net gain of their trade period would be securing two ready-made players while they were in the window.
They have secured GWS defender Harry Perryman as a free agent.
The Pies know their future first-rounder next year might start at pick 15 but be blown out by up to 10 spots given the avalanche of academy prospects which will be bid on by northern states clubs.
Clubs are already preparing for the academy prospects to dominate early selections given their strong form in recent national championships for the Allies side.

Re: Trade Rumours 2024
North were in the conversation just so Houston could use them to leverage a deal where he wants to go. It's a shit system.

Re: Trade Rumours 2024
Interesting Collingwood are going out and securing the picks needed to get their deal done.
Why can’t Geelong do this?
I guess they’re above it.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

One is a contracted player open to going to multiple clubs to get a fair deal for his current club.
The other is BS

They must be confident they'll get him either way.

Re: Trade Rumours 2024
I keep seeing trade suggestions that involve clubs offering their F1 AND F2 (such as Carlton for GCs 13- but isn?t there rules against trading away the first two picks in any one draft?

AFL can grant allowances and I think it requires picks be used rather than held. So if you have a first this year or you're trading in a young player as examples it's ticked off on. Basically doesn't exist as a rule anymore tbh

This specific rule as you know is:
Keep your F1, trade either or both F2 or F3
Trade your F1, keep both a F2 & F3
In Carlton?s case they were working on bringing in another F2 which means they could trade a F1 & F2, while still holding a F2 & F3.

Balta signed a 7 year extension through to 2032. Tigers are gonna need all those draft picks if Balta is the centrepiece of the rebuild!

At least he can’t hold them over a barrel when the Cats chase him.

Does anyone else remember the 2004 draft?
1 - Brett Deledio
4 - Richard Tambling
12 - Danny Meyer
16 - Adam Pattison
20 - Dean Polo
Good luck Richmond, you're going to need it

They'll be hoping that in 20 years their talent identification performance has improved. This is a good draft but they will still get a couple wrong.

Even then I'm not sure this is a superdraft like everyone says, a lot of players with high floors that should do well for themselves but no THIS IS A POTENTIAL TOP GUY IN THE LEAGUE outside of Ashcroft.
